Today we had our first snowfall in Quebec, in some other provinces it had already started but where I am located, one hour from Montreal, it had not snowed yet, it is our first experience for my daughters and me, since my husband has been living for a year in the USA a long time ago and I spent a whole winter there.
As a responsible mother I was already preparing to buy jackets and snow boots on sale and a good brand, people who had already spent winters here had recommended us, gloves, scarf and hats, we did not buy earmuffs because with the hat you already cover your ears so we didn't see them as necessary; brands like Northface, Tobogan, even at Cotsco thick jackets keep you warm. We bought shovels, salt for the snow, also to clean the car window when it freezes, we bought the winter tires at Canada Tire and they came with the installation and as expensive as it may seem, unlike several places where we asked, we got it a little cheaper, for the purchase of 4 tires and the installation.
In primary school the children do wear all winter clothing, that is what the schools ask for. But in high school, it's different, teenagers don't wear the whole suit at all, but if they wear a jacket, gloves, a hat and a heater under their jeans, as they are teenagers they start to grow and they don't wear it, unless they do games in the snow, some do wear boots and others some type of snow shoes but they are still shoes, until now I do not understand why the shoes get wet with the snow and if you slip it is worse, it seems to me that it depends a lot on how they feel boys.
For my part, I love the snow, it's the same as in the movies, the cold isn't pretty, but with the jacket it's enough, I had no problems, not even with gloves, jacket and light pants, because the pants I put on one that has stuffed animals inside, not the heater, and it seemed leggin, I was comfortable and warm.
I walk about 8 blocks from the bus stop to my college and about 5 blocks from the bus stop to my house.
When the winter is over I will tell you, since we will still see where to do some activities for children and teenagers.
One big tip if you come to Canada, if it's cold, you should prepare yourself, YES, but don't listen to that, you're going to see the snow, how annoying it is, this is nothing in comparison...
Each one with his opinion, but what does not give you work or laziness in this life, enjoy the moment because if you spend your life complaining you will get wrinkles very soon, not to mention that the illusion should not be spoiled by anyone.
Take your precautions and enjoy!!!...

D.G thanks for the recommendations
